The percentage of computer owners backing up all the data on their computer has steadily increased over the years, from 65% in 2008 to 76% in 2018. Podcast Ep. 02 – CrashPlan shutting down personal plans.

Yesterday one of the leading cloud backup service providers, CrashPlan, announced it was ending support for its consumer level plans. CrashPlan for Home will be shut down as of October 23, 2018. Current CrashPlan for home users will receive an extra 60 days of backup service for free. No new signups or renewals are being processed.
