What can you give up and change?
My friend Chantelle on her blog is suggesting a 40 day experiment.
In the spirit of Catholics giving up something for lent, the idea here is to do a personal sacrifice which will better yourself and others. I’ve taken up the challenge and my sacrifice is to stop being on my laptop or phone one hour before I go to sleep.
The more I thought about it, this idea is also a powerful way to change a habit that could be impeding your productivity. In my case not having a bright screen in front of me just before I go to bed should help me sleep easier and then allow me to be more productive the next day.
I invite you to try and give up a habit you have that may be impacting your productivity or your life. It should be something that if you succeed will make you feel better. Some examples;
- Don’t check email first thing in the morning.
- Write down your three tasks you want to do that day, and do the most difficult one first.
- Limit social media use to only set times each day.
- Decide to wake up 30 minutes early to meditate or plan your day.
If you want to ‘plant your stake’ feel free to tell us in the comments what habit you are planning to change.
