Apple announcements at WWDC

Apple used its World Wide Developer Conference to announce the new versions of both its desktop and mobile operating systems.

OS X Yosemite features some tweaking of the look of the screen to bring it more inline with the IOS look and feel Yosemite will also allow you to seamlessly take calls from your iPhone as well as seamlessly hand off transferring of task from devices.  For example, you could start an email on your iPhone and then moving to your Mac, you could continue the email.

IOS 8 has some new features including in the mail app, allowing you to swipe an email that you are composing off screen temporarily to allow you to get some other info in another email. This may not sound like much, but it’s a big deal for me and something I’m really looking forward to.

Both Yosemite and IOS 8 will be released sometime this fall and the price will be free.

From the blog – How Cryptolocker changes the way we back up.

Last fall I blogged about the threat of Cryptolocker and other such ransomware. Recently the bot network that cryptolocker used was shut down by authorities but it will only be a matter of time before another piece of ransonware makes an appearance. Another reminder to make sure you have a cold backup somewhere.
